animal activists' abattoir protest backfires
animal activists bit off more than they could chew this morning when they chained themselves to the killing area of an abattoir at ipswich in south-east queensland.. the 12 protesters got a fright when meatworkers took matters into their own hands and used angle grinders to cut the chains off the activists so they could get back to work.. the group had hoped their actions would disrupt the world meat congress, which is under way in brisbane.. protester angie stephenson says it was terrifying.. "the workers, they were standing around cheering and whooping and yelling and making lewd comments so we had to call the police and tell them to get out here straight away," she said.. police escorted the group off the site and no arrests have been made.. abattoir management has declined to comment.
poor angie!

i know myself, although i have not been disrespectful to anyone and have tried to enter conversations explaining my beliefs only, not to put anyone elses beliefs down, have been called self righteous, condescending, a hypocrite and tiresome today.. i had a similiar problem at another site and chose to leave because it was not encouraging.. come on everyone, lets listen to reason here.
many of us have been thru a literal hell of the wt organization.
and have had our lives in total turmoil because of it.

When we are very secure and at peace with what we believe, no one can take that from us. Don't take any comments personal, because even if they were meant as a put down or not, it does not change who we are.
Your experiences in life after the org are just as valid as everyone elses. What happened to me years ago when I first started hanging out online in disfellowshipped JW chatrooms and forums, is I would get "triggered." I would have a stress reaction and panic attack when something happened. Maybe it was a confrontation with another active JW, listening to old tapes of Watchtower talks, going over old literature, an ex JW attacking me, different things would trigger stress and a panic attack.
We are devided by the paths we took after we walked out the Kingdom Hall doors, but we are all united by what the JW experience did to us. May we all work towards respecting each other instead of adding to someones pain.
Love Always~Kate
i have noticed that some posters are here a lot, and i was just wondering how you find so much time to do that?
between work, coming home and playing with my child, working outdoors in the yard, and enjoying the weekend in the outdoors doing fishing, hiking or just getting outside.
i have little time for places like this and yet some are here "a lot!
I would like to add that even though I am here so much BECAUSE of my illness, it is still a priveldge and joy to do so. I am falling in love with everyone here, and look forward each day to reading how you all are, and your thoughts on everything.
Apostate Kate, what disorder is it if you don't mind me asking? I am curious because my step-dad was just diagnosed with a blood disorder and I can't remember the name but he has too much iron in his blood and it messes up your kidneys and I think liver too. He is also diabetic and just had an ultrasound in which they found he has only one kidney.
That would be the disease. It is called Hereditary hemochromatosis. There are different mutations of it, I got the worse combination called C282Y homozygous, which means I have a double mutation of that HH gene. The terrible truth is that this disease need not take your life or damage your organs.
I went through a medical nightmare and nearly died several times befopre it was diagnosed. By that time in 1994 my liver was fried. I had to push it back under my rib cage in order to sit up or drive because it was so swollen. The tests showed is badly damaged with chirrosis and blockages. It is called the celtic curese because the gene has been traced through Scotland, Dublin, to the nothern Viking tribes.
The treatment is regular bleedings for the rest of your life. Staying well has been a challenge. I eat a mostly organic raw vegan diet with non soy protein and natural suppliments. Hard to stay on but I have to work harder to be active. I have secondary problems from the HH, lupus, thyroid disease, fibromyalgia.
Here is the link;American Hemochromatosis Society
You can tell your step-dad about it and he can sign up to join a email list that is a lot of help.
Tell him I said hi~Love Kate (unless he is a dub then you can't)
i thought it appropriate that my 100th post be about the attending of my first "worldly" church service this sunday.
it is at a friends methodist church.
they are having an open house, so i thought it the best day to go.
Cangrats! I hope you like it. I kinda been searchin around for a new place to go, someone mentioned Calvary Chapel once. Anyone know about this particular religion?
Yes quite a bit. My husband and I are students at Calvary Chapel Bible College. I prayed and asked God what to do after several years of deculting myself. I felt very strongly God lead me here, to a Calvary Chapel called "Harvest" Harvest Online There I learned even more, served on different ministries and charities, and made new friends. Calvary Chapel puts great emphasis on going through the Bible, they use the great Bible commentators and Hebrew Greek scholars as references, not some guys who pretend to know something they don't. There is no outline to follow, it is all Spirit inspired, and Bible based, not Watchtower or head office based. Calvary Chapel began as a ministry in Southern California in the 60ies when an educated minister felt moved to reach the drug addicts on the beach and areas around Costa Mesa California. Whereas his other religious associates did not want dirty stoned hippies coming in barefoot, he went to seek them out, just as Christ would have done. Some would use the communion cup holders for their big toes, they were a raggy group. Some had been addicts, violent veterans from Nam on dope, acid freaks you name it. God touched them in miraclulous ways, then they went out to reach others. Thus what started as a tent church, has spread all around the world. They are reaching people as they are, where they are, without judging, just as Jesus did. We pastored a small Community church and they are very different. They were not real happy about any changes we tried to make. There is a big difference also in how churches are run. Some are board run, and for a pastor that can be difficult and time consuming administration. Calvary Chapels are pastor run and it takes alot of red tape away so that people can go about the business of community outreach and charities. They still have a board, but they are more for making sure no heresy enters the church, not telling the pastor how things are to be run or taught. Many Blessings on all Your Church experiences~Kate

While your exploring churches I highly recomend experiencing a Calvary Chapel if there is one near you. They are so suiyed for ex JWs because there is very little religiosity. No dress code, people wear shorts, whatever. The worship music is wonderful and contemporary.
I would have had a really hard time with some of the traditional churches. I was too burnt out to deal with religion, dressing a certain way, etc. I would have ran if peple started roling in the isles or speaking in toungues.
Check out the churches link if interested to find the nearest one to you.

Disabled from a genetic illness that did not get diagnosed before causing organ damage. When I am here posting, that means I am having exacerbations and am posting from bed. I have blood removals every 8 to 10 weeks and sometimes that wears me out for a few weeks.
Otherwise I am outside enjoying nature, doing stuff, knitting, doing bead work and macrame, reading, I always hope to have a full remission and maybe even get a horse again. We travel in the bus, am planning a trip to a old mining ghost town near Death Valley in two weeks. When I am able we go to the Stratoshere in Vegas on the motorcycle (the rides at the top are SCAREY!). We live a very simple life, hubby works maybe one day a week. He is a full time student in Bible College, I'll finish my classes online next semester. We both hope to complete a masters in theology.
i urge you to disregard any personal opinions voiced by anyone, including myself regarding watchtower society publications.
but i would like to ask you to meditate on why god is so puny and ineffective.
he must be the epitome of helplessness.
...and imagine that the whole New Testament was written only for 144,000 Jehovahs Witnesses and of course a few others like maybe the Apostles. Couldn't God have written something special for the rest of us lowly drones?
the week before i broke my foot, i resolved to join weight watchers and start exercising.
now, i'm still planning to do it, but have a great excuse not to bother with either one right now.
and in order to deal with anything, i have to go up and down my staircase to get outside!
I was born with a genetic illness that this diet has done much to heal.

i rented a house in the late !970's and the contents in the home were given to me.. it happened to be books: ( making my life happy, revelation, children bible stories, listening to the great teacher ) i was enjoying the reading.. -----------------------------------.
a few years later began to notice awake magazines in doctor offices, and other public places and read them and enjoyed them.. ------------------------------------.
late 1980's my 7th son was 2 yrs.
You think God lead you to them where as I understand you were molested by a JW? Why are you stateing these lies?
I stated "as I understand" with a "?"
That is because I was unclear. I had gone back over your posts and reread them from the archives to try to get to know you better. The problem with your posts id you do not clearly asertain which statements you are making, which somneone ewlse made, and what you are answering to.
That is because you are new and have not learned how to use the "quote" function yet.
Copy and paste what you are answering, and then highlight it and click on the white cloud looking icon, that will help everyone understand you better.
